GW Topham & Son are seeking a highly motivated and competent Operator to become part of our industrious team in the lead up to harvest 2023. This valuable role provides the opportunity to be part of a professional, welcoming and effective crew who take pride in the quality of their work on a day-to-day basis. Training will be provided, a background or experience in Agriculture would be a real asset.

A full driving licence and experience of driving a telehandler to bulk-load is vital.

For the successful candidate working with the Laboratory Manager, responsibilities would include ensuring that grain stored on site is monitored and controlled to maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness and all health and safety protocol is followed to safeguard themselves and others. Responsibility will be taken for the maintenance of equipment to a high standard and adherence to the TASCC code of conduct to uphold the accreditation status of the site.

The operator will liaise with the Laboratory Manager as needed to ensure seamless operation of processes on siteĀ and will operate the grain dryer and colour sorter as required (training will be provided for this). There will also be a requirement to carry out pest control and monitoring, utilising IT software to book loads in and out of store as needed.

For the successful candidate example duties would include the handling of grain, loading and tipping of lorries, following all health and safety protocol and the maintenance of equipment to a high standard. There will also be a need to adhere to the farms code of conduct so that site remains accredited, and potentially the drying or cleaning of grain dependent upon conditions.

During harvest the working hours will be typical for an arable farm of this size. There will be long working days (well into the evening) and 7 day a week working will be necessary as workload and weather dictate. This however is seasonal.

A strong work ethic and exemplary timekeeping skills are a must. In return we can offer a competitive package, good potential to earn above your fixed salary and on-site accommodation.

To apply for this job email your details to heidi@gwtopham.co.uk.
